Strawberry Sundae – 3/1/26

Another week around the internet. Let’s see what I found.

Crunchyroll makes my personal headline again, as some anime were quietly removed. I considered quite a few of the shows on the list top-tier anime, so I’m personally upset about it. The anime I’m most upset about seeing go quietly into the night are 91 Days and Death Parade. Both shows are independently made with no source material. This means there’s no manga or light novel to experience the story through. Without a streaming platform to call home, 91 Days and Death Parade are legally gone. Another story that I adore that delves into the criminal world is Baccano. I love the pacing of the story and the way it plays with timelines. Noragami was also unfortunately on that list, but I’m losing hope we’ll see more of the delivery god Yato. Have you seen any of these shows before they disappeared?

Resident Evil’s Twitter page gave everyone a chuckle this week as we all waited for more news on Requiem, the 9th installment of the series. Fans were treated to watching the Umbrella Corporation file a lawsuit against Nissin Foods for having a product that strikingly resembles their own. Umbrella Noodles are an easter egg that can be found in the games as a tribute to the noodles. I think it was a fun fake rivalry and a great strategy to get fans involved right before Requiem’s release. I’m sure during busy development sprints, the scent of Cup Noodles wafts from an office or two. Would you try noodles manufactured by the Umbrella Corporation? I’d be worried they’d be laced with something to turn me into a zombie.

Drop the sails and prepare for adventure; the second season of live-action One Piece sets sail on March 10th. I’m expecting the triumphant soundtrack to fill the air on the night of its release. This is one of those premiers where my plans are cancelled in advance. I adore the live-action season one soundtrack and put it on in the background, especially when I’m working on the blog. It’s so memorable; I remember certain scenes beat for beat based on the music. It’s been announced that the Hu—a Mongolian folk metal band—are joining the musical pirate ranks. Their song “Pray to the Sun” is the theme song that ushers in the Viking giant warriors of Elbaf. It’s streaming now on YouTube, and the powerful throat singing from the Hu, along with vocals from Declan de Barra, matches the bigger-than-life feeling the Elbaf giants bring to the screen as they stand imposingly over the Straw Hat Crew. I recommend checking it out if you haven’t yet. What was your favorite song from the live-action One Piece soundtrack?

Thank you for listening to another Strawberry Sundae. Have a berry sweet day.
