Another eventful week of scrolling comes to an end. There was so much going on, it was hard to pick! Here’s what I found.
The Hatsune Miku Expo kicked off last Sunday in Chicago, and the set list is a mash-up of newer hits with crowd-pleasing classics. Hearing Love is War was on the set list, which made my jaw drop. That song was published in 2008 and is still at the top of the Miku charts. I feel like there was an even split on songs I was familiar with and others I had never heard of. I’ve seen comments from fans expressing that there were too many songs on the set list that they didn’t recognize. With such an expansive discography, I think it’s hard to hear them all, but hopefully, if you’re attending the Hatsune Miku Expo 2026, you can vibe to the songs you don’t know and look them up later. The call of the light sticks always gets louder this time of year.
If you somehow haven’t heard, Tomodachi Life Living the Dream was released on April 16th, to roaring applause from players who had been eagerly waiting for about a month. I have had the pleasure of seeing incredibly creative Mii’s running around, saying the most ridiculous things. Creativity is a big selling point to this installment of the Tomodachi franchise. Players can make just about anything they can draw, from perfect portrait Mii’s to alcoholic beverages. The chaos has been so refreshing to see; people are giggling over the random interactions the game comes up with. As much as I would enjoy living this dream life on my computer, it is a Switch exclusive, but this time, the Switch One was invited. Hopefully, this helps anyone with Pokopia fomo. The SuperMega guys Mii’s are already flirting in their new universe. Are you planning on buying Tomodachi Life Living the Dream?
KAngel took to the stage with polarizing reviews from fans as the Needy Streamer Overdose anime isn’t what everyone was expecting. Taking place after the visual novel, the anime opens with KAngel in a crowded arena watching her follower number climb. Needy Streamer Overload mixes media using 3D visuals to portray KAngel, which almost made her feel like a VTuber to me. If I happened to not know anything about the game, I think seeing the trailers, I would mistake KAngel for a new VTuber. The anime does have stunning visuals. Fans express their dislike of the long monologues and the lack of focus on KAngel’s real identity, Ame, as well as the focus on a secondary cast. I’m excited to see the world of Needy Streamer Overdose expand and see how other streamers handle the pressures of the creator dream. What do you think of the anime so far?
Happy belated 30th birthday to Pompompurin, the best Sanrio character. Thank you for listening to another Strawberry Sundae. Have a berry sweet day.
