New Horizons -Sanrio Games

Hello Kitty expands her resume from apparel and cute office supplies to gaming as Sanrio announces its official self-published video games brand, Sanrio Games. This isn’t the first time the lovable cast of Sanrio characters has been on a computer screen, as Hello Kitty Island Adventure was released in 2025 and still boasts very positive reviews. The game even received two DLC packs. The second pack, City Town, was just released in April of 2026. Moving forward with this ambitious project, Sanrio announced that its game studio already plans to release ten games in the next three years.

Sanrio Pary Land will be the first video game to be released under the direction of the new studio this fall. This is a multiplayer party game where fans can connect with their friends and explore in a custom avatar. Sanrio understands its demographic is creative people who spend hours in a character creator. The Switch and Switch two are both invited to this party, and I’m relieved that Switch one made the guest list. I’m hoping Sanrio embraces making games with older consoles in mind, as well as their PC gaming fanbase. In Sanrio Party Land, players can interact with not only their friends but also the huge Sanrio cast.

I think Sanrio is going to have a tough time deciding which characters to put in their games because I don’t think they’ll all fit in one game. I’m hoping the expansion into gaming gives Sanrio a new way to tell stories about their characters, maybe showcasing some characters who are starting to become more popular, like Choco Cat and, recently, Hangyodon. I feel like Sanrio has been using TikTok to add depth to their characters, giving them more distinct personalities and hobbies. I recommend following them to see what quirky things your favorite Sanrio characters are getting up to. I feel like I see Pompompurin the most, but also, he’s my favorite character.

Sanrio Games released a trailer on their YouTube channel with an adorable video of Sanrio characters hanging out with different gamers. I liked the music a lot, and I think it’s a perfect showcase for Sanrio. I’m kind of expecting a lot of multiplayer games.

I’m excited to see what games Sanrio releases over the next three years.
