The internet was buzzing this week. Here’s what made it to the center ring.
At the beginning of June, the finale for the Amazing Digital Circus is coming to theaters. The small indie animation helmed by Gooseworx has nearly left the indie scene, moving from YouTube to Netflix, and now the big screen. Unfortunately, all of this publicity has added the Amazing Digital Circus to the leaks that has recently plagued animation. The leak includes the full final episode in Portuguese with English subtitles. The ending has split the fandom in two. Unfortunately, the louder side of the fandom has turned on the creator and resorted to cyberbullying. I hope this doesn’t deter Gooseworx from creating more.
9anime and dozens of other piracy sites for watching anime were silently removed from the internet. With subscription prices continuing to creep higher every few years or months, being able to watch anime feels harder. Amasian TV may be the beginning of getting some anime for free. The streaming site mostly features K-dramas and travel shows, but has a few anime classics available. Naruto, Bleach, and Lupin the 3rd were available for streaming. English dub was even an option. The anime library is small, but it’s a start.
Yuri!!! on Ice made a surprise return to the public eye as Dean Fujioka performed History Maker at the 2026 anime awards. 10 years ago, the Yuri!!! on Ice film was announced and silently shelved as MAPPA focused on other projects. Fans refused to give up hope, even with the official announcement two years ago about the film’s cancellation. Hopes are rising again alongside the performance of the iconic opening. Keen-eyed fans noticed that the official Twitter account has recently become verified. The cancellation announcement has also been unpinned from the account, but not fully deleted. Speculation of a Yuri!!! on Ice revival has the fandom buzzing back to life once again. Some fans think Heated Rivalry may have reheated romance on ice.
