Welcome to the big top, take your seat, and keep your eyes on the center ring of this week
It’s Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary, and to celebrate Capcom is partnering with Japanese metal group BabyMetal. Having three members with a Gothic style, the band is perfectly paired with Lady Dimitrescu. Fans can purchase t-shirts, an acrylic stand, or a keychain featuring the ladies of BabyMetal as Lady Dimitrescu’s daughters. Hinanana is the artist behind the collaboration. There is a sweatshirt available with a zombie design with three faces melded into it that has more of a traditional horror aesthetic. The items are currently in pre-order until June 26th. BabyMetal shared a TikTok showing their first reactions to the merch, and they look ecstatic to have been chosen for the colllab.
The results for the 2026 American Music Awards are in, and K-Pop Demon Hunters won the award for best soundtrack, beating its animated competitor, the soundtrack for Hazbin Hotel season two. K-Pop Demon Hunters was released on Netflix in June 2025, and people are still singing Huntrix’s number one hit, Golden. I feel like I’ve heard Golden just about everywhere, and I still get giddy hearing a song from an animated film in the grocery store. Huntrix’s music went beyond appealing to audiences of all ages with the positive message of accepting yourself in insanely catchy tunes.
Netflix released the trailer for its upcoming anime title, The Ribbon Hero, to be released exclusively on the streaming site on August 8th. The trailer showcased gorgeous transformation scenes, giving the anime a magical girl feel already. The Ribbon Hero is based on an old manga produced in 1958 called Princess Knight. Twin Engine, the team behind the project, is bringing to life a story that hasn’t been told in a long time with a lot of new flair. I think this hero’s journey is in good hands.
What’s your favorite older anime series? Have a berry good day!
