The Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka will end the summer by hosting an exhibit featuring 12 masterpieces from the Mauritshuis museum while it undergoes renovation. The icon for this historic exhibit is Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer. To celebrate this exciting art swap, several iconic characters have donned the eye-catching pear earring. Miffy and Frieren have both been trying to capture the painting’s magic allure. While this event is only taking place in Osaka from August 26th to September 27th, I’m hopeful that any art prints or plushies will be available online for purchase. The Miffy Pearl Earring plush is so cute.
Until Dawn 2 has been announced, alongside a trailer, during Sony’s State of Play event. Instead of being trapped on a snowy mountain this time, players will find themselves on an island that is said to be haunted. The trailer didn’t give too much away, but Until Dawn 2 looks like it’s trying to make the bold move of making daytime scary. The trailer revealed glimpses of the slasher-like killer, but I’m hoping for a supernatural foe at the heart of it all. The main cast of characters looks new, but it looks like fans may get a therapy session with their favorite therapist, Dr. Hill, played by Peter Stormare. Don’t forget, your choices matter.
Put your scrapbooking skills to use in the new indie title Your Painting Sir. After missing the art auction you were supposed to attend, it’s time to get creative. Cut photos from newspapers and paste them together to make your legally blind boss think you obtained the fine art in question. The game may be harder than it looks, as it seems to have some complex paintings to recreate. Players have the freedom to choose any pictures from the newspaper to puzzle together their masterpieces. You can put kittens in the sky as long as your boss believes they’re clouds. The game does not have an official release date yet, but it is slated to come out this year, according to its Steam page.
