Welcome to the big top, take your seat, and keep your eyes on the center ring this week.
Chainsmoker Cat was released, and some netizens claim it’s too gross to continue watching. The main character Yaniko does some desperate things to satisfy her nicotine addiction. Others have defended the show, claiming it’s a more accurate representation of addiction. Cat girls have been the queens of anime for a while, and I feel like Chainsmoker Cat just turned the cute cat girl trope on its head. These are cat girls who can’t be fixed.
Ghibli Park in Japan is now screening an original short that guests can view at the Orion Theater in the Ghibli Grand Warehouse. The short is called Night in the Valley of Witches, and it was made specifically for the park, featuring the Valley of the Witches area in Ghibli Park. I’m curious if the movie will be about the park staff caring for the area. The promotional art has the cute Ghibli spirit and a Howl’s Moving Castle Easter egg.
The Final Fantasy 14 mobile port will be shutting down after operating for about a year in China. This shutdown signals the cancellation of the global release for the mobile port. The mobile game got just far enough to finish a Realm Reborn. Tencent has released an official statement on the Final Fantasy 14 mobile blog regarding the circumstances of the closure. Game services will officially cease on September 30th, 2026. I can only hope some of the character customization options come to PC.
Would you have played Final Fantasy 14 on your phone?
