After ten years, the Magical Girl Raising Project will premiere a second season titled Magical Girl Raising Project Restart. The anime will premiere on October 5th 2026, on TV Tokyo,BS Fuji, AT-X, and more. There are currently several trailers available on the YouTube channel mahoiku2official. Magical Girl Raising Project took cute magical girls and pitted them against each other in brutal fights to the death. It looks like magical girls will once again have to raise their weapons against each other. The word restart feels a little extra ominous. I wonder if there will be any magical girls left after this round.
Niu Lai is an animated hit film in China that’s a case of so bad it’s good. Thanks to the internet, this goofy indie film has taken off. Clips circulated of poorly animated animals and giggling theatergoers, and it became a sensation. The film looks bad, but it has heart behind it, with a mother-and-son team who spent five years working on it. Part of that was teaching themselves how to animate. Niu Lai has become so popular with Chinese fans that the silly-looking characters are appearing in commercials unchanged. They’re iconic now. I’m surprised and delighted the movie made it to theaters instead of just being a short on YouTube.
