Horror is always best enjoyed with friends. You should always have a buddy when exploring abandoned theme parks, on the off chance that it might be haunted. If the rumors are true, it’s better to have someone by your side. Taking on every evil entity alone is a hassle. Hinako has temporarily given up her lone wolf status to team up with Azami in a new collaboration between Silent Hill F and Urban Myth Dissolution Center. These top-tier horror detectives are on the spooky case.
No stranger to getting lost in the fog Hinako Shimizu – the protagonist from Silent Hill F- takes it in stride when she finds herself in an unfamiliar foggy place. She’s eerily calm when faced with a monster poised to attack. Her counterpart Azami Fukurai -the protagonist from Urban Myth Dissolution Center – can’t quite stop her voice from trembling. The collaboration features a mini visual novel that can be played in a browser for free. The mini-game was developed by Hakababunko, the creator of Urban Myth Dissolution Center, and plays similarly. Players must collect clues as Hinako, with Azami’s help. Together they’ll uncover the truth behind the split-mouth woman urban legend.
I like Hinako’s pixel design. Her sprite walks with purpose. She’s turned into someone who’s not afraid of much during her time in Silent Hill. While the mini visual novel doesn’t canonically take place in either universe, I thought it felt like it was in the middle of both stories. Hinako references being used to monsters, making me assume she’s already started the story of Silent Hill F. Azami in this short story introduces herself as a detective from the Dissolution Center. She has her glasses on and seems as confident as she can be in her role. Finishing the short collaboration games reveals a beautiful illustration by Kera, the artist behind the character and creature designs of Silent Hill F. It’s a gorgeous blending of two worlds.

The visual novel and art aren’t the only way Silent Hill F and Urban Myth Dissolution Center are celebrating their collab. The games are currently on sale bundled together on Steam! I think these two franchises pair nicely together. I think Hinako’s fate may have changed slightly if she had someone like Azami looking out for her. Maybe together the two could have solved some of Silent Hill’s mysteries. I played the mini-game, and it lives up to that title. If you’re a fan of either, I recommend checking it out. If you haven’t played Urban Myth Dissolution Center, this may convince you to give it a try. You can find the game here: Collaboration Mini Game. Enjoy the mystery!
